I was so excited about this show ever since I saw it posted on www.100monkeysmusic.com. I did have a pretty good time, even with all the chaos that happened that night. Even with the girls who were standing next to me on my left, who didn’t know how to control their liquor consumption and their attitude towards me. But the ladies and the gentleman next to my sister were extremely nice
Thank You!! And why is it when ever something negative happens, you always remember those moments vividly? But anyway, my date for the evening was once again my sister, who was very much excited to attend this time around. {She even sang along} She became even more ecstatic when she found out Imagine Dragons were going to open the show again. We arrived at the venue, and were greeted by the staff. They told us the show was upstairs. (sidenote: I was very delighted the show was indoors this time around no freezing!! yay!!) It was a nice venue, a great place to have a show…then as the night progress my opinion change. We found a table to the right of the stage, and sat down through the first opening act, The Rooks. They reminded of a British invasion band from what I remember, not The Beatles. Their set went off without a hitch. To be honest I really couldn’t get into them.
My sister did buy us each a drink, our only drinks of the night. Opinion One: the cocktail guys never asked if we were ok with anything. Mind you we still had some beverage in our cups, but they still could have asked. It’s called customer service right? So The Rooks finished their set, and Imagine Dragons began to set up their equipment with major technical difficulties. They never fully got their sound mics amps thingys up and working properly. But they still put on an awesome show. Finally, 100 Monkeys came out and began to set up their instruments then told the crowd, “be back in 5.” Marty, the bananager, took the stage to introduce the guys.
I cannot forge the memory of which song they opened with, but they did play songs they didn’t play at the Beauty Bar show. They played ”Smoke”, “Invisible Monster” {Now that I have had actually heard it in person I love it, you know instead of youtubing it…loved it}, and another song I’m sorry I can’t think, but I know they didn’t play it at the last show. I do apologize for my memory the show was several weeks ago. But I do remember them playing “Orson Brawl”, “Arizona”, “Ugly Girl”, “Reaper”, “Kold Pixs” (They need to record that song, it’s too awesomeness not to), “Prayer”, “Wings on Fire”, and “Keep Awake”. And of course “The Monkey Song” or as Ben G introduced it, “It’s time for the motherfucking Monkey Song”. It’s not a Monkey show without the “motherfucking Monkey Song”. The improv song of the evening was “Lipstick on my Collar” which was the better choice out of “Aviation” (really? They already have a song about an airplane) and another choice. J.rad asked us audience members for three choices. During the improv it is where the mic stand and the actual mic broke. I personally, believe it didn’t happen on purpose. You can judge for yourself.
**This video is mine, all videos that are posted with this blog will be mine**
They unintentionally ended the show with “Invisible Monsters”, and told us they will be back shortly. But as most of you know they weren’t “allowed” to finish their set. No encore, no “Thank You” song. Opinion Two: Which I am sorry to say, is complete and total bullshit from a fan point of view. They were the headlining band of the evening, they should have been able to complete their set. I know on some websites it was mentioned that some venues have a curfew, but this is Vegas people, there is no curfew. Las Vegas is the ”city that never sleeps” this side of the Mississippi. Most clubs here do not close until 4am, and it wasn’t even 2am. I am not sure of the Hard Rock’s hours for shows and such.
I know the news on the “no encore” and the treatment of the guys exploded on the internet and fans quickly took action against the Hard Rock Cafe, but I am still waiting to hear 100 Monkeys side of what happened behind the scenes. So I am not going to go into details about one of the techs calling the guys “asshole” because A) even though I was there I didn’t hear the name calling or see the beer get spilt. But I know there is proof. B) It would be pointless of me going into details of something I honestly didn’t know about until the following morning. Opinion three: it was extremely unprofessional of the Hard Rock personnel for the name calling and spilling Mr. Rathbone’s beer on a piece of Monkeys equipment. Are they seriously in elementary school? They should have kept their opinions to themselves. Rule of thumb.
I love 100 Monkeys for staying professional about the events that unfolded that evening. Throughout the show it did seem to me they were irritated about the technical difficulties that continued from Imagine Dragons set to theirs. It still baffles me that one of the reasons given why they weren’t allowed to do an encore because they started their set late. It wasn’t in their control, Hard Rock. They were constantly telling the tech guys “more sound in this mic”, ”these mics are switch”. Thank you guys for still putting on an awesome show. We’re sorry that you were unable to finish your set. Vegas <3′s you.

**I do apologize for my monotone singing…I thought I was singing low enough to where the mic on my camera wouldn’t record me. It’s really low, but you can still kind of hears it. And I would like to apologize for the sidewayness…I’m too short. The wonderfully nice girly who was in front of me apologized later on youtube, she wasn’t aware I was recording some of the show. She told me I could have told her to move. But I don’t like to bother other folks at shows, and especially if they are having a good time. It just would have seem rude to me to ask someone else to move so I could have a better view.**
Thanks for reading,
